GWR 1906-1914 Loco Livery

From around 1906 frames were black, with green splashers. Locos now carried the garter crest on the tender sides. From 1911 works plates were gradually removed. Otherwise locos continued the full lining out, most with polished domes and safety valves.

From ca 1914, this livery style gradually gave way to the austere and generally un-lined khaki green of WWI. Some locos carried the pre-war liveries right through the war, but usually under a thick coat of grime.

The loco shown here is another 2-4-0 3232 class loco from a Martin Finney kit. These are among my favourite GWR locos, so the more the better!
