GWR saddle tank 307 at Didcot, October 1927

Saddle tank 307, one of the small number of the 302 class, seen shunting alongside the Provender Store at Didcot in October 1927. It was fitted with a spark-arrester ('busby') for working the Didcot Ordnance Depot. The shunters truck (which seems to be 41890, of diagram M1), is marked 'Didcot Ordnance Depot'.

This page summarizes the GWR Shunters Truck diagrams, and provides a list of sample allocations. The table below is for GWR designs only, and does not include absorbed types. Sample allocations of GWR Shunters Trucks, with an emphasis on the post-grouping era, is given in this Microsoft Word file. Thanks to Steve Daly for providing the initial information for this listing.

For illustrations and details, refer to 'GWR Goods Wagons' by Atkins, Beard & Tourret. Note also that you can read about the use of Shunters Trucks on the very useful "Goods and Not So Goods" website.
